Back in November of 2016 I wrote Unacceptable where I relayed a story of my life in relation to racism and how it has impacted my life and relationships. Our country has only gotten more divisive and frankly disgusts me in the direction that some aspects that expand further than just racism. Now we have anti-intellectualism, homophobia and transphobia, antisemitism, anti-vaccine, anti-science in general, and a huge cult of personality. The conspiracy theories have blown up to the point that they have become mainstream news fodder such as Q-anon and election fraud.
Misinformation, disinformation, and the general lack of critical thinking and self awareness have driven people to conform to tribalism and to promote initiatives against their own interest. I don't blame Donald Trump for everything but I do put a large amount of blame on those that platform and support Trump and his friends. January 6th, 2021 was a horrible day for this country and yet people are attempting to downplay it. Even some attempt to rewrite history to state that the activities of that day were patriotic and legal.
I have a lot of anxiety for the future of our country and the world. I have no doubt that our country is at an inflection point of history that will be determined which direction our country is tipped on the first Tuesday in November. It could be that our country is too far gone with people that don't utilize their brains or are so opportunistic to take advantage of those that are not using their brains.
By the way, this is my second attempt at writing this post. In my first attempt, I tried to list out all of the touchpoints that happened since my last post with references and commentary but I got too depressed and overwhelmed by the shear amount of negative events. I abandoned that attempt and decided to write this instead.
