Mini-posts: Tactical Titan 3

Mini-posts: Tactical Titan 3

On June 9th, 2018 I participated in an obstacle course race (OCR) named Tactical Titan 3. I was enticed to participate by my friend Will who runs in OCRs often and has been attempting to encourage more people into his hobby. We drove out to the outskirts of Lakeland, FL to the Hillsborough County Fairgrounds.

The morning was fairly warm but not stifling hot. Once we retrieved our race stuff (shirt and bib numbers) we made our way to the starting line and chatted with some of Will’s OCR friends. When the starting alert was signaled Will and I started to jog, slowly, to the the first obstacle. I was able to keep up with the pack and even traverse the early obstacles with relative ease. Then we hit the bar with the rope net. I attempted three times and got a nice rope burn and bruise for my troubles but ultimately failed to complete that obstacle. After about that point I could tell that I needed to save my energy between obstacles for the next obstacle and therefore walked the majority of the time between stations. I completed most of the obstacles that corresponded to leg power or strength. I failed or did not try many of the obstacles that required upper body strength or grip. Anyway, I survived and completed the entire race even though I failed. I think I will try this again but I need to lose weight and gain upper body strength.
